Lazarus Cure

raygun gothic meets cassette futurism in a post apocalyptic future where a young robot is set to save the world from a computer virus bent on killing humanity and its creations. with a retro flair and inspired by the likes of megaman and astroboy, lazarus cure is the scifi about humanity, love, and fighting for yourself youve been waiting for.

okay, my little pitch out of the way, Lazarus Cure is my very personal original story! set in a retrofuture setting, Lazarus Cure is a scifi apocalypse story about fighting for futures you may not live to see. or something, ive changed a lot of it from draft to draft. what you need to know is that it takes place in the city of New Eden, a city protected by a dome to keep its people save from imminent outside dangers. what danger you might ask? robot zombies.

a huge part of how this story came together was a desire to write a new oc story, but being unsure where to start. im not usually a fan of zombie apocalypse stories, so when i had the idea of that but with robots? i figured i had something mildly interesting to work with. the end result feels like astroboy and evangelion had a baby, but dont worry about it. everything is derivative yadda yadda XD

so to finally get a move on, here is the actual plot summary of Lazarus Cure.

>Many years ago, a team of experts working out of New Eden attempted to create Pomegranate: A program to improve on the most lifelike and efficient humanoid robots the world had ever seen. On trial, a stray line of code spelled doom for humanity on arrival. A rapid and unintentional spread of the virus started a robot apocalypse, machine cannibalizing machine and killing anything else in it's way.
>Now years later, New Eden stands as a beacon of humanity able to hold it's ground against Pomegranate thanks to their elite defenders, or Cherubs, as they were known. A new line of research dedicated to an Anti-Virus was in full swing, it would come to be known as the Lazarus Cure. A program that would run a full wipe, reboot, and reprogramming on those affected. The only problem was how to deliver it.
>And so an old unidentified robot carcass kept in a back room was revived and set to work. This robot, Pluto, would become the only hope the world at large would have.

yeahhhhh pretty cool right? its okay if you dont think so, this is a passion project of mine, and i love showing off anyway! ^w^ im very proud of how its come along, and Pluto's story means a lot to me. a lot of it does revolve around the ethics of the Lazarus Cure, the treatment of robots at large, and Pluto's own struggle with his existence. somewhere in there im sure some of it gets lost along the way, but i cant help but enjoy it still. id love to be able to write my script for it someday, classic 26-episode anime style, but maybe as 26 comics instead. short, but just enough to tell the story from start to finish with room to build characters in less serious situations.

from here out, ill be discussing the characters, and showing off some of the art ive done. this project is still really bare bones, but its my baby so! i wanna show it off anyway. i hope you have a good time reading about my freaks!

Pluto

Pluto is ammicable and personable, doing what hes told with little question. he often finds himself turning to others for direction, which can be problematic when he has to call the shots. his new found life is something he treasures, even if hes at a loss for what to do with it. Being the delivery of the Lazarus Cure, he has to weave his way between the work of the other Cherubs to reach his target and deliver the anitvirus.

Mars

Mars is defiant, cold, and quick to conclusions. her reactive nature is a means of survival, and she refuses to bend or break for anyone. she takes leadership roles, but fails to consider others needs instead of their jobs. Mars is very up close and personal, hoping to best others before they can best her.

Verity

Verity is a clever and booksmart individual who relies heavily on instruction and tested theory. easily overwhelmed and flighty, she finds it much easier to handle assignments than people. She prefers to play the role of the tank, taking hits and collecting data to find flaws within the enemy.

Cupid

Cupid is loving and emotional, a people-person to his core. bothered by the assignments they regularly get, Cupid would rather work with other people than combating the Pomegranate Virus. if he must fight, he does so at a distance.
